A useful first check for your audio
SoundTesters brings microphone, stereo speaker, headphone and 5.1 channel checks into one browser-based workspace. Use it before a call, when setting up new equipment, or when a sound problem needs a more systematic comparison. The tools are free and do not require an account or software download.
Who operates this website?
SoundTesters is an independent project operated by Nasir Aziz Awan, who also owns KeyboardTester.click. The two websites share ownership. References between them are related-owner links, not independent endorsements. SoundTesters is not a hardware manufacturer’s diagnostic or certification service.
How the tests work
- Microphone: after permission, the browser captures an audio-only stream, draws its waveform, and estimates digital input levels. Starting the mic test also creates a local sample that you can play back or download.
- Speakers and headphones: locally generated tones are sent to the selected stereo channel. Short fades reduce start and end clicks. The headphone tool also offers a centered signal and a short frequency sweep.
- Surround: the tool checks the browser’s exposed channel capacity before offering discrete six-channel output. Its default stereo preview is labeled and cannot verify physical 5.1 routing.
Useful clues, with clear limits
These checks can confirm that a signal reaches the browser or help compare where you hear a channel. They do not measure calibrated sound pressure, your hearing ability, exact hardware frequency response, or laboratory-grade distortion. Operating-system processing, driver settings, device fit and receiver modes can change the result. Compare a second app or your system’s own channel test before deciding that equipment is faulty.
Privacy and development
Microphone analysis and recordings stay in your browser. This version has no advertising, analytics, account system or marketing cookies. The website was developed with AI assistance and checked through code and browser testing; that is not a claim of laboratory accuracy or compatibility with every device. Read the privacy notice and testing disclaimer for details.
